My Story
Kara Voss brings more than two decades of experience in education, coaching, athletics,
wellness, and leadership to the United Rise & Resilience Project (URRP). Her work centers on
helping people recognize their strengths, navigate challenges, and grow beyond the roles and
expectations that can define them.
Kara earned her PhD in General Psychology with an emphasis in Performance Psychology, with
research focused on collegiate student-athletes and their intentions to seek mental health support.
Her research reflects her passion for creating environments where conversations about mental
health, identity, resilience, and personal growth are a normal part of supporting people.
As an Assistant Professor of Sport Studies, Kara works with future educators, coaches, exercise
professionals, and student-athletes. Her background spans K-12 and higher education, coaching,
recreation and wellness leadership, fitness, curriculum development, and collegiate athletics,
giving her a unique understanding of people in high-performance and achievement-driven
environments.
Within URRP, Kara combines research, education, and real-world experience to develop
meaningful programs and conversations. She is passionate about creating resources that help
people recognize that asking for support is a strength and that who they are extends far beyond a
title, role, uniform, career, or season of life.
At the heart of Kara’s work is a belief in connection, authenticity, and growth. Through URRP,
she works to help individuals and organizations create cultures where people feel seen and
supported, and where resilience means more than simply pushing through. It means learning,
connecting, seeking support, and rising together.
